Eric Cantona has again hinted that one day he will be manager of his beloved Manchester United. The ‘Looking for Eric’ star was in Cannes last week to promote the film, and the 43 year old hinted that his name is already in line to manage the club he played for between 1992 and 1997, where he played almost 200 games, scoring 82 goals. His stint at the mighty reds saw him win 4 league titles, and 2 FA cups along the way, going down in United folk law as one of their true legends.

Cantona’s name is still sung on the terraces week after week, and he has quoted that although he currently manages the French beach football national team, he has his sights set on a bigger club. Stating that he hopes Fergie will live forever, he said that the only job that would equal that of managing United is managing the England national team.

Watch out Capello…Eric is after your job!!!

OK, it was only Belarus, and OK, England had one of the easiest qualifying groups I’ve ever seen us have, but results don’t lie, and England’s form in qualifying for the World Cup in South Africa 2010 cannot be frowned upon. Ex manager Steve McClaren didn’t exactly have the most difficult of groups but his England team including much the same set of players as Capello’s struggled to find form and confidence and that resulted in the failure to qualify for the European Championships on the last occasion back in 2007.

Enter Fabio Capello – a master in management and a guy who has actually managed to earn the respect of the nation and of his players by convincing them they can go on to win the tournament while also keep their feet firmly on the ground and disconnecting any individual player for praise. ‘The team’ as he keep referring have done well. On ITV last night he commented on certain individuals playing well but wouldn’t name them and also refuses to talk about the prospect of winning the World Cup next year.

Managing England it seems is a doddle again – at least the man in charge has got a wealth of experience in doing it and doing it well…think back to previous managers and I’m sure you’ll agree that this is possibly the best chance we’ve had of going all the way since 1990.
